Service 01

Real-time listening and monitoring

We monitor what is being said about you, or about a subject you care about, as it is published — across X, Instagram, YouTube, Facebook and news websites. You can work directly from the monitoring screen or from interactive analytics dashboards built around your own questions, reachable from a desktop or a phone.

Those dashboards let you follow, for example, what newspaper accounts and news handles on X are publishing about a person or an issue. Alerts run around the clock: if the volume of posts mentioning your keywords rises sharply against the normal average posts per hour, you hear about it immediately rather than the next morning.

We provide the technical support and the advice that go with it — choosing and refining keywords, phrases and search filters, designing the reports, and remote support over online meetings when you need it. We also advise on the content the analysis surfaces, and on handling incidents as they develop, in the discipline known as proactive crisis management.

What the monitoring report contains

  • Benchmarking — how the public engages with you compared with competitors or peers. For an election, that means candidates in the same constituency.
  • Top hashtags on X for a given period, around your online reputation or your chosen terms.
  • Top speakers — which accounts drove discussion of the subject over that period.
  • Influencer analysis and how far published content actually travelled.
  • Reach — the size of the audience the content genuinely arrived in front of.
  • Detailed hashtag analysis on request, for the topics bearing on your reputation.
  • Weekly or monthly reporting as interactive visualisations and dashboards, on web or mobile.

Service 02

Content analysis

Daily, weekly or on-demand analysis of what is said on X about you or about a defined subject, produced with our Social Intelligence system — recipient of a technical excellence award from the International Telecommunication Union.

The system is integrated with the official X Premium API, with Pulsar Social Media Analytics, and with the live monitoring described above. It analyses conversation in Modern Standard Arabic and Kuwaiti dialect using data analysis, text mining, computational linguistics and natural language processing, and returns findings from a linguistic analysis of the text rather than a keyword count.

The Premium API connection matters more than it sounds. It gives access to the full data stream and to historical X data back to 2006. Most social analytics products on the market run on the free API, which offers neither.

What the content report contains

  • Engagement analysis — how audiences respond to what you publish, to what is published about you, and to your services and online reputation.
  • Topic extraction — the dominant subjects over a period, around your reputation or your chosen terms.
  • Sentiment analysis in Modern Standard Arabic and Kuwaiti dialect, scoring direction of opinion from the language actually used.
  • Weekly or monthly reporting as interactive visualisations and dashboards.

What this gives a government entity

Most of our public-sector clients are not buying a dashboard. They are trying to answer a question they currently answer by intuition.

  • Establish the entity as a centre of excellence in applying data analysis and AI to social media among government bodies.
  • Read public opinion trends through both quantitative and qualitative analysis.
  • Measure sentiment in mentions of the entity’s own accounts on X.
  • Produce indicators that support performance evaluation under open government commitments.
  • Track changes of pattern in opinion, so a developing crisis can be addressed before its effect becomes severe.
  • Monitor the spread of rumour, misinformation and directed campaigns, so the entity can correct the record before a claim settles in the public mind as fact.
  • Support genuine engagement with the public, rather than using official accounts only to broadcast.
  • Analyse the impact of published content on public opinion.
  • Measure performance indicators for the entity’s accounts.
  • Produce daily and weekly reports for decision-makers.
  • Give content editors and designers the basis for consistent messaging.
  • Identify the pivotal topics and keywords, and the issues genuinely affecting the public.

Alongside the reports we advise on the content the analysis surfaces, and on proactive crisis management where what is published about you starts to move.

See it running

Our public opinion trend analysis project, Social Watcher, was named a Champion of the WSIS Prizes 2022 by the ITU in Category 9, Media, and was earlier selected for the ITU’s COVID-19 Response ICT Case Repository. See it at watcher.social, and the case study published by Pulsar on how the National Assembly used these systems. For historical hashtag and topic data on Kuwait, see the Kuwait trends archive.
